Hannibal

Today while Kelly and I were walking the dogs, I spotted a baby bird in the road. We decided to rescue it and I was surprised when it let me walk right up to it and pick it up. It was a cute little Starling baby with little tufts on it's head. It kept falling asleep in my hands as I was carrying it around and I was very close to just taking it home and trying to take care of it myself.
We tried to take it to the nearest vet first, and they told us they don't take them. So we ended up taking it to the Animal Welfare League.
We spoke to one of the volunteers there who told us all about Starlings. Turns out they are really smart and make great pets. They can even learn to talk! And since they are non-native, you can have them without a license.
At any rate, we finally took the baby to a foster mom who rehabs babies. It basically took all evening, but I love the fact that we saved it.
We saw the dogs while we were at the welfare league and there was a jack russel puppy there that I would have brought home if I didn't have bailey.
It was a good day.
Good night Hannibal!
